Working Solutions Job Coaching Services

Mandate

To provide individualized support for people with disabilities facilitating transition to work independently in community

PACE was officially incorporated and opened its doors in May of 2005. Strengthened in 2006 by the training of job coaches, the program now holds a prominent place in the provision of diverse vocational rehabilitation opportunities within its catchment area. Job coaches have taken on the roles of partnering with businesses to support workers in learning the requirements of new work situations and social integration into the workplace. Responsibilities have also included taking on activities required of the job while the worker learns the full skill set. This contribution is integral to the logistics of sustaining competitive businesses while accommodating the fluctuating health status of workers experiencing symptoms associated with serious and persistent mental illness. Since the onset of their involvement in February 2006, the job coaches have provided services to over one hundred and fifty individuals. Job coaches have consistently been active in supporting PACE program participants with in house consumer run businesses providing paid transition to employment services and placements with employers in community through our supported employment program. Job coaches are also trained in providing supported education services to those who require assistance in classroom settings, tutoring or other personal supports to successfully achieve education goals.
